A Picture of an Amazing Sisterhood

“ The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind… I in them and you in me. Then they’ll be mature in this oneness, and give the godless world evidence that you’ve sent me and loved them in the same way you’ve loved me”

John 17:21 -23

PICTURES –  they  capture moments and tell the stories of our lives. If I were to flip through the “SISTERHOOD“ photo album at Christ Fellowship many of those pictures would predate those that I have stored on my iphone camera roll.

In 1984, Christ Fellowship opened its doors and Donna Mullins opened her heart to all the women that walked through those doors. She laid a strong foundation of prayer and passion for God’s Word. She led a team of amazing women that had a profound impact on me, a young woman fresh out of college, and countless other girls who also followed in their footsteps.

This picture from the past, started a story that is still being written . It is OUR story – the story of our Christ Fellowship Sisterhood. My prayer is that if you are reading this, that you will find your place in the family picture that depicts the story of who we will be together.

Several years back, as I was preparing for our very first Amazing girls night – wondering if anyone was going to show up (that’s another story  for another time), I spent several weeks praying for a specific timely Word from God that would inspire and rally the girls of our house. It was in this season that I believe God dropped THREE words into my spirit. Three words for HIS daughters. Three words that would define who we would be together.

These three simple words provided a frame for the picture of US!

CONFIDENT: Our Sisterhood exists so that every daughter of the house can run their unique race being CONFIDENT, knowing that her value and worth are found in her Creator; that she would know and believe that the truest thing about her is what God says about her.

CONNECTED: We will create spaces and places for every generation to CONNECT in life-giving relationships. Places where sisters will speak the words that would echo God’s voice of truth, love and grace.

COLLECTIVE: Together we will be a COLLECTIVE  force, a mobilized army, committed to bringing God’s light into the darkness and His hope to our marginalized sisters locally and globally .

My prayer for Christ Fellowship Sisterhood echoes the prayer Jesus prayed in John 17 –  that when we UNITE, we will be a stunning picture to the world of the LOVE and HOPE that Jesus came to earth to bring.

Good morning. I’m happy that this transition is in process. The society we live in currently does very little to inspire confidence in women. In fact, it does more to strip women of their confidence and objectify them than at any other time of my life. Connected as sisters instead of being in competition with one another is where I hope to be, and believe that confident and connected, we can be a collective force of lionesses aware (L. Bevere) to bring Jesus to our world. Thank you for offering this venue for sharing.
