Life of Inspiration

Keep Talking

  • What are some ways that we can show honor to someone today?
  • Is there someone in your life that you can honor?

The Bible has a lot to say about honor, it is mentioned 211 times!

Read Romans 13:7

  • Romans 13:7 says: Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
    • With this passage of scripture, we can show honor in many ways, by paying our debts, giving respect, especially if it is hard to give to someone who does not reciprocate.
    • Honor is defined as, “High respect; esteem. Regard with great respect.”
    • Honor is not freely given, but when we give it, we need to do so without hesitation.

Keep Discussing

  • Jonathan and the Armor Bearer
    • If Jonathan’s Armor Bearer whose name is unknown, did not declare to Jonathan that he is with his heart and soul to go up against the Philistines by themselves, our world may be totally different today than what it is.
    • Jonathan and his Armor Bearer had the courage to go to the Philistines knowing they had God on their side.  What appeared to be a suicide mission to everyone else, they went to that camp with Godfidence (Confidence in God) to have God with them every step of the way.
  • Sacrificial Love Inspires
    • Where there is sacrificial love, there is inspiration
      • What are some examples of sacrificial love?
  • Have you been loved sacrificially in a way that totally changed your life?
  • Have you loved sacrificially in a way that totally changed someone else’s life?
  • When we put someone else’s needs before our own we are demonstrating the love of God.
    • John 15:3 says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
  • Courage Inspires
    • Jonathan’s courage inspired his Armor Bearer and no matter how much his men mocked him, he kept climbing.
      • Can you give an example of someone in your life that showed courage to inspire you to keep climbing?
    • When our values are Biblically based, the world tends to mock us and wants us to compromise. We need to ignore the world and when we do respond, respond in the right way that Jesus would respond.
      • Has there been a time when you showed courage even though others around you didn’t think it was the best choice?
    • Honor Inspires
      • Jonathan was a man of honor. What he did was always bring honor and glory back to God.
      • One man’s act of courage, faith, and character impacted an entire nation!
        • Are you inspiring others to love that way with how you live your life?
      • Don’t ever minimize your impact on when you stand with love, integrity and character and honor. God wants us to inspire others with honor.
      • We need to always pray, “Lord keep my motives pure.” We want to do the right things for the right reasons.
        • When others look at you, do they see a man/woman who always brings honor and glory back to God? Or do we like to receive the praise for ourselves?

Keep Moving/Going

  • We can be someone who is: Always shining.  Always inspiring. Always honoring.
  • Always give honor where honor is due. We should be inspired by those who serve and have served. We need to be men and women that inspire.
  • Look for the best instead of being quick to look for the worst in people.
  • Challenge: Look for unique opportunities to go the second mile to help someone. Do it because Jesus did it for you.
