Raised from the dead

The man was dead, victim of a massive heart attack. His face was black. His hands and feet were black. The body was being prepared for the morgue.
That’s when cardiologist Dr. Chauncey Crandall heard a small, soft voice: Turn around and pray for that man.
“I’ve heard the voice of the Lord sometimes, and I’ve denied it sometimes,” says Chauncey. “But I turned around and walked to that stretcher. I didn’t know what to say, but the Holy Spirit said it for me: Father God, I cry out for this man’s soul. If he does not know You as his Lord and Savior, raise him from the dead. Right now.”
“Shock him again, just once.”
Chauncey called the medical team back into the room and gave the order to have the body shocked one last time. “All of the sudden there was a perfect heartbeat,” he says. The man’s fingers and toes wiggled. He started to breathe and he began to mumble.
A buzz spread throughout Gardens Hospital: Did you hear about Dr. Crandall and the guy who was dead? Three days later, Jeff Markin of Tequesta woke up in his Gardens Hospital room and wept as Dr. Chauncey Crandall led him to a new life in Christ.
“I’ve received the ultimate gift,” says Jeff, who now worships at Christ Fellowship’s Gardens Campus. “I feel like I’ve been received by Christ and He’s released me to continue my life as a messenger to spread the word about the power of prayer.”
Running after Jesus
Dr. Chauncey Crandall has spent the better part of the past seven years fervently pursuing Christ. It was his young son’s diagnosis with leukemia that set him on the path, though he’d been a Christian for 25 years.
At first, Chauncey couldn’t believe that God was capable of healing the sick, which he so desperately wanted for his child. But then he traveled to a mission in Mexico and saw it first-hand – the lame, brought in by wheelbarrow, were made to walk. The blind could see. Cancers were healed, all in Jesus’ name.
His son’s doctors had given the boy three months to live. “We battled that thing for four years,” Chauncey remembers. “When that boy took his last breath, I asked God, ‘Am I going to run from you, Lord, or am I going to run to you? Lord Father, I’m running to you, because I’ve seen too much. I’ve seen your greatness. I’ve seen your miracles.”
Chauncey and his family worship at Christ Fellowship’s Gardens Campus. He counts Jeff Markin among the million souls he feels commissioned to save for the Lord.
“The boldness of the Lord has come upon me,” Chauncey reflects, “the boldness of a believer that stands in authority and prays and delivers the Word of God to His people. And things happen, all in Jesus’ name.”
But first, he listened. Have you been listening for that small, soft voice of God?
Fox News reporter Lauren Green came to Palm Beach County to talk with Chauncey, Jeff and his family, and Christ Fellowship Senior Pastor Tom Mullins. Watch local listings; Fox is planning to air her one-hour report during the Christmas season.
