Haiti Earthquake Relief

RESTORING HAITI

This update is information based on recommendations of the Assessment Team that traveled to PAP. The Christ Fellowship response to Haiti remains a multi-phase comprehensive approach to short-term and long-term effective solutions. We continue to see the best value CF can bring is in the relationship with ministry partners.

TANGIBLE WAYS FOR CF FAMILY TO HELP

CF CHURCH FAMILY:

  • Florida Department of Children & Family has listed many areas where you can help. Click here to download.
  • If you have items to donate, please check out the DROP-OFF LOCATIONS available. CF is NOT collecting items at any campuses for individual groups. Life Groups, Men's, Women's and other ministries are encouraged to participate at collection sites and reaching out to Haitian individuals, who may have lost family or friends.

HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS:

To serve by connecting with professional medical organizations that have an infrastructure in place to qualify, place and strategically organize resources on the ground in Haiti.

DONATE TO HAITI CRISIS FUND:

The Haiti Crisis Fund dollars are leveraged through direct impact. Here's how your donations are being used...

(Under a special law recently passed by Congress and signed by the President, cash donations toward the relief of Haitian earthquake victims after January 11 and before March 1, 2010 can be taken as a tax deduction for either 2009 or 2010.  "Cash" includes contributions by check, or charged to a credit card.)

1. Bulk Survival Supplies – We are partnering with Gleaning of the World, a major national and international facilitator of relief supplies and Food for the Poor also a major distribution network for Children’s Homes. The focus will be to ship 40-foot containers of specific products that will be needed at various phases of recovery.

CF has committed funding to shipping slots, acquiring blanks, medical supplies and survival food.

2. Children’s Home(s) - New Life Children’s Home has successfully operated in PaP Haiti for fifteen years by a US non-profit World Harvest Missions as primary funder. All 115 children are safe and the Lord protected their buildings. The property is approximately 5 acres and is directly attached to the airport.

CF Team reported on January 22 that the buildings of New Life Children’s Home sustained minor structural damages, which can be repaired with US building methods. One of the dorms was damaged beyond repair and 400 feet of a security wall was destroyed.

CF is committed to financially support food and supplies, fuel to run a generator and temporary armed guards to protect the supplies and 115 children of home. The first night the gate guard was able to chase away the voodoo Charmin looking to get a child.

This facility is located and equipped to serve as base of CF teams when the time is appropriate.

3. In-Country Air-Support – In partnership with Samaritan Air, a long time CF family member and partner, we'll be providing air support to various contracted organizations. A base of operations was established at the PAP airport with Missionary Aviation Fellowship. We have also established a working agreement with Food For The Poor to bring food, supplies and medical assistance to remote locations. The primary need for this service is to locate children’s homes, plan mission efforts and provide clinics.

4. Long-term Restoration - In partnership with Helping Hand Mission Organization, a south Florida based group of business people, headed by a Haitian born US educated successful businessman.

The CF team planned the logistics for a base of operation 15 miles west of PAP. The long-range restoration will require a close knowledge of the Haitian culture, economy and governmental process. Helping Hand has a successful track record from Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf States to the Hurricane and mudslides that devastated portions of Haiti two years ago.

CF has committed to assist in planning of restoration projects and for CF team participation in various phases of construction, when the time is appropriate.

STAY TUNED
for updates on further restoration projects as we learn more about how we can help restore the families and communities in Haiti.
