HealthCare Back to School Outreach
Since 2006, our HealthCare Ministry has taken the lead in providing Back to School Physicals with our community partner Urban Youth Impact at the UYI site. Children in grade K-12 are provided with entry health exams and sports physicals by medical experts that volunteer to help with completing the forms involved. In the summer of 2008, additional health services geared toward the whole family will be provided. Blood pressure screenings, health education, and game areas aimed at teaching children about nutrition and exercise will be added. Volunteers are always needed; sign up at healthcareadvocate@cftoday.org.
Nurse Visitation
Nurses are available by referral to see new mothers and their babies to offer encouragement, information, parenting education and a person to call with questions.
Nurses will also, by referral, visit homebound elderly to listen and help with organizing medications and medical information.
Medical Advisory Council
The Medical Advisory Council meets quarterly to select educational materials, community partnerships, and volunteer opportunities for the doctors and other members for the HealthCare Ministries. These medical professionals draft mission doctors and additional health related community services from among their colleagues and peers.
