Addiction and Dependency

Christ Fellowship’s Recovery Ministry offers fellowship with others while celebrating God’s healing power in our lives through a twelve step approach. These 12 steps are a spiritual path toward restoration.

They can be used as a way out of self-destructive behavior, as a recovery tool in which to learn new behaviors, and as a way to establish a closer relationship with God. When the steps are used in conjunction with support groups, they provide an opportunity to experience feelings, talk openly with others, enjoy life one day at a time, and develop healthy relationships.

Step Study

The Step Study is an intensive look at the Twelve Steps of Recovery, facilitated by an experienced leader. There are both male and female groups available.

Open Topic Groups

Addiction can be defined as a pattern of enslaving, destructive habits. Alcohol, drugs, food, work, gambling, sex, or any other compulsive behaviors may be considered addictive and have negative effects both psychologically and physically.

Codependency can be defined as an addiction to people, behaviors, or things. Codependency is trying to control inferior feelings by attempting to change or manipulate people, things, and events. A codependent person will also try to rescue others to feel good about them self. The central theme in every codependent person's life is control.

Sexual Integrity Sexual addiction is best described as a progressive intimacy disorder characterized by compulsive sexual thoughts and acts. Like all addictions, its negative impact on the addict and on family members increases as the disorder progresses. Over time, the addict usually has to intensify the addictive behavior to achieve the same results.

Prayer for Serenity

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. AMEN."
