Cholesterol
A New Way to Test Cholesterol
by Ron Surowitz, DO
Diet and exercise are an important factor in preventing heart disease. Unfortunately, we cannot change our heredity. Now there is a test that can help us determine certain factor relating to heredity and diet. Understanding what this test tells us allows us to determine what avenue to take in preventing heart disease.
For the past 20 years we have had the ability to evaluate cholesterol by fractionating it into “good” (HDL) and “bad” (LDL) Cholesterol. Yet, these traditional cholesterol tests do not give us the entire picture regarding heart disease prevention.
By the grace of God, we now have an improved method of measuring Cholesterol. This test further separates HDL and LDL Cholesterol. There is increasing evidence that the smallest particle size of LDL may be a significant cause of coronary artery disease. The test also determines how many carriers a person has that cause LDL cholesterol to adhere to the arterial wall, causing damage.
Make it a point to ask your doctor to do a LipoMed® test. It may just save your life or the life of someone you love. May the Lord continue to bless you with wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
