What Do I Give?
How to Begin?
Pray and ask God to lay on your heart what you should commit to the vision of One Life. This should be above and beyond your regular giving. God will call different people to give different amounts. He doesn’t ask each of us for equal gifts, rather He asks us to make equal sacrifice. Once God shows you in your heart what you are to give over the next two years, obey Him. Together we will trust God and move forward to what He has planned for our church family.
Here are some ways to consider giving:
1. Commit to a 24-Month Giving Plan.
Review your budget and find areas you can change to intentionally give above your regular offerings. Over 24 months, you’ll be able to do more than you thought you could while you develop the discipline of this consistent act of worship.
2. Assign Assets.
If you’ve been blessed with stocks, securities, or real estate investments, you may want to consider giving a portion to the Lord. If your investment has appreciated, you’ll avoid paying taxes on the gift and still be eligible for an income-tax deduction.
3. A Special Gift.
Some of you may be called to also make a one-time sacrificial gift. This could involve a gift from your savings, from a tax refund, from a job bonus, or from monies raised from a garage sale or eBay. Be creative and involve the family in praying and discussing what each member can do to contribute toward a family gift.
