Like What I See

I Like What I See in the Lives of Christ Followers…

Watching people who call themselves Christians can sometimes be confusing. You may assume that going to church or having knowledge about God or the Bible makes a person a Christian. Following Christ, however, is more than membership in a church or learning a set of doctrines. It is more about a personal relationship with God and the changes that forgiven people are free to enjoy in their lives and relationships.

People who follow Christ are not perfect. What has made a great difference in their lives is the honesty about past failures and struggles and the forgiveness that each has found in Christ. It begins with understanding two things: mercy and grace.

Mercy is “not getting what we do deserve.” Instead of punishment for our personal failures, God offers a way to a new life.

Grace is “getting what we do not deserve.” Other world religions require that a person perform religious rites or good works. But for Christians, God offers a relationship based upon what Jesus Christ did on our behalf, giving His own life on the cross as payment for our sins.

What is so attractive when you’re around true Christ followers? They have received a second chance at life and are grateful because of that. The generosity each has received from God changes a person’s entire outlook on life, purpose, people and eternity. Christ followers are people of hope, and they love to share that hope with others.
