Giving
What the Bible says about giving
Giving is a vital part of spiritual integrity and maturity. It requires two things of us:
-
Faith
Giving is an active expression of our faith. It recognizes God as our True Provider. It affirms our confidence in His ability to supply all we need. It is an act of gratitude and dependence, and it allows us to partner with God and His work through our church and in the world. -
Faithfulness
Giving requires the highest standard of personal integrity and discipline. It is not a casual or occasional thing. The Bible teaches, in 2 Corinthians 8-9, that we are to give willingly, generously and cheerfully. Our pattern should reflect a regular and systematic plan.

Tithes and Offerings
In Malachi 3:10, we learn that God's standard is to set apart the first tenth, or the tithe, from all our earnings as a gift to God. Through our tithes and offerings, we prove faithful in the stewardship of all God has provided for us.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." Malachi 3:10
